If you know me, you know I have an unstoppable sweet tooth. I have scoured all of Michigan for the best dessert places. I’m always willing to try new places, but I also have staples for when I need something delicious. Here are my top go-to places for sweets.

Astoria Pastry Shop

The line is always out the door in this little Greektown pastry shop. If you’re a cannoli fan, you will love their famous chocolate cannolis. Their detailed cakes will make you gain a few pounds just by looking at them.

Love’s Ice Cream

435 Ionia Ave SW, #106, Grand Rapids, MI | 616.965.1054

Love’s Ice Cream is organic and made from scratch. Stop by their shop at the Downtown Market in Grand Rapids. They offer unique flavors, like lavender blueberry, or classics, like their vanilla bean. Try their mitten pop, hand-dipped right in front of you.

Bavarian Inn

1 Covered Bridge Ln, Frankenmuth, MI | 989.652.7200

You already know this German classic restaurant will have the best strudel in the state. You have to try their Frankenmuth Rum Torte; chocolate and white cake, layered with custard, strawberries and whipped cream.

Underground Cheesecake Co.

800 Cottageviw Dr, #10, Traverse City, MI | 231.943.1746

Their cheesecakes aren’t just delicious, but they’re beautifully garnished with flowers and fruit. Get a slice of cherry cordial, a Traverse City classic. Cheesecake lovers rejoice.

Van’s Pastry Shoppe, Grand Rapids

955 Fulton St E, Grand Rapids, MI | 616.458.1637

This Dutch pastry shop’s donuts will not disappoint. Their homemade pastry recipes have been going strong for over 80 years. The chocolate frosting is delicious and should be on every dessert fanatics bucket list.

MSU Dairy Store, East Lansing

474 S Shaw Ln, East Lansing, MI | 517.355.8466

The ice cream is so fattening it can’t be sold in stores, so make the trip to East Lansing. The MSU Dairy Store has a flavor named after all of the schools in the Big Ten. Make any ice cream flavor into one of their delicious shakes or malts.

Boonzaaijer Bakery, Kalamazoo

126 East Cork Street, Kalamazoo, MI | 269.343.3001

Another Dutch bakery, but Boonzaaijer has the best cake in Michigan. With cakes made from scratch, it’s hard not to spend all of your money in one trip. Their chocolate mocha torte with Bavarian cream filling is their specialty and a chocolate lover’s dream.

Pick a place near your area, trust me, they are all delightful. If I missed one of your favorite places, tell me in the comments. I’d love to give it a try!
