Welcome to Around Michigan! We love everything that has to do with the beautiful Great Lakes State and are excited to share with you all the places to go and things to do. This beautiful state has a lot to offer and we are committed to bringing you information about places, people, local businesses, music, events and more.

Michigan is home to diverse agriculture, a variety of tourist destinations, and America’s thriving automotive industry. With growing cities like Grand Rapids, the largest city in West Michigan, art, tourism, and business are thriving within the state. Grand Rapids is home to ArtPrize, exhibiting thousands of pieces from local and national artists throughout the city each year. Detroit is known for one of the largest business districts, which includes the headquarters of General Motors and other large corporations. Mid-Michigan is home to the capital, Lansing–which has a thriving downtown city market, the historic Old Town Lansing, and an ongoing urban and retail development. As for those who prefer going up north, the Upper Peninsula (nicknamed the U.P.) is a common tourist destination, as well as Mackinac Island, which sits between the Lower and Upper Peninsulas.

If there is one thing the Mitten State is known for, however, it’s the surrounding Great Lakes. The state is lined with beautiful beach towns on Lake Michigan and scribbled with miles of bike trails through forests and rolling sand dune parks. Michigan sees all four seasons throughout the year, making it perfect for all kinds of outdoor enthusiasts. It’s perfect for hikers, skiers, and boaters.

Additionally, Michigan is the center of athletics, both college and professional, like the Detroit Pistons, the Detroit Red Wings, as well as Michigan State Spartans and the Univeristy of Michigan Wolverines.
