Best Pizza in Kalamazoo

Let me guess – you’re on a mission to find the best pizza in the Kalamazoo regional area. That’s no small task, as Kalamazoo is blessed with many fantastic pizza shops.

Below you will find the best pizza options in Kalamazoo. We’re only including restaurants that have a Kalamazoo location – there are plenty of great pizza spots in Portage, Plainwell, Mattawan, etc. that deserve their own page. We’re also limiting this list to pizza that you can only find in Southwest Michigan. In other words, no chain restaurants. These restaurants are listed in alphabetical order – it’s up to you to try them all and decide which has the best pizza in Kalamazoo.

Bimbo’s Pizza

338 E. Michigan Ave, Kalamazoo | 269.349.3134 | Website

Located in the heart of downtown Kalamazoo, Bimbo’s has been a Kalamazoo restaurant staple and all-time favorite pizza spot since 1959. Opened by Robert and Jennie Smilanich, it is still owned and managed by their descendants.

Many people swear that Bimbo’s has the best thin crust pizza in the world. With close attention to detail and tiny refinements over 60 years of operation, while remaining true to their original recipes, they have seemed to perfect all of the ingredients that make up their pizzas.

Bruno’s

1528 W Michigan Ave, Kalamazoo, MI | 269.349.3229 | Facebook

Bruno’s has a special place in my pizza loving soul – as a little kid my second-grade class got to tour the restaurant where they showed us how to toss pizza dough. None of us were cut out for the job.

Sentimental thoughts aside, Bruno’s is and has always been a favorite pizza spot, particularly for WMU students. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also worth a visit – stop by and watch the cooks behind their window toss dough into the air and make your pizza right in front of your eyes.

Erbellis

6214 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo, MI | 269.375.0408 | Website

If you’re a fan of pizza that is non-traditional and creative, Erbellis is a great place to go. Some of their most popular options like the Flip A Dip and Twisted Sista use unique ingredients like smoked gouda, alfredo, and penne noodles to make their tasty creations. All of their pizzas come with several crust options including hand tossed, pan style, Chicago style, or gluten-free. They also have a big selection of vegetarian pizzas that are made with high-quality ingredients.

Erbelli’s doesn’t stop at pizza – they have a great selection of submarines, calzones, pasta, and other great food that you would find at a classic Italian joint.

Jaspare’s Pizza

6050 Gull Road, Kalamazoo, MI | 269.382.2900 | Website

Jaspare’s has several locations across Southwest Michigan, including spots on Sprinkle Road near the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek Airport, in Lawton, Mendon, and their original location – Vicksburg.

Founded by Jaspare Matranga in 1977, Jaspare’s has always sourced many of their ingredients directly from Italy and makes their sauces from scratch. Their intense focus on high-quality ingredients has made them a favorite among Kalamazoo locals for decades.

Jaspare’s is also a popular lunch spot as they have a massive list of specialty submarine sandwiches that come in 6” or 12” sizes.

Maestro’s Pizza

6070 S 12th St, Kalamazoo, MI | 269.372.2222 | Website

While many would consider Maestro’s a Portage pizza spot, it technically has a Kalamazoo mailing address so we’re including it.

Maestro’s is a favorite among those who live on the Southwest side of Kalamazoo. They have great classic pizza options and are known for their beer specials and live music – making it a popular hang-out spot on weeknights and weekends.

Maestro’s is also known for their calzones, sandwiches, salads, and wings – why stop at just pizza?

Martini’s

832 S Westnedge Ave, Kalamazoo, MI | 269.388.8883 | Website

Martini’s is a Vine neighborhood favorite and is known for many dishes other than pizza (if you haven’t been here yet it’s a must visit). However many people swear that they have the best pizza in Kalamazoo.

Their pizza is thin crust and comes with a huge selection of fresh and high-quality ingredients. If you’re looking to try pizza at a more upscale environment, or you’re with a group that might not all want pizza for dinner, this is the place to go.

Roma’s Pizza

1401 S Drake Rd, Kalamazoo, MI | 269.372.7662 | Website

Roma’s is known as having excellent pizza at great prices. Unlike some pizza places that can make ordering pizza expensive with extra toppings and sides, Roma’s lets you order a ton of food and extra toppings for a small price. Another favorite among WMU students.
