If I had to choose my favorite thing about West Michigan, it would be all of the amazing restaurants and more specifically, Mexican restaurants. I’m not talking about Taco Bellesque Mexican food. I’m talking about the flavorful, authentic, real-deal Mexican food. If you are looking for somewhere to go to dinner or you want to branch out from your typical go-to Mexican restaurant, keep reading for the best Mexican restaurants Grand Rapids has to offer.

Tacos El Cuñado

1024 Bridge St NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504

This west side hot spot on the corner of Bridge St and Pine Ave is one of the most convenient ways to get your hands on authentic Mexican food. You can expect to receive quick and friendly service every time you visit their small, family-run business. Tacos El Cuñado has something for everyone as their menu includes tacos, tortas, quesadillas, tamales and more! One of my favorite things about this eatery is their participation in the community. Often, you can find them serving their delicious food at several local events throughout the year.

This restaurant features farm to table dishes and a wide selection of specially crafted drinks, both packed with flavor. Maggie’s Kitchen

636 Bridge St NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504

Even after 36 years in business, Maggie’s Kitchen is still a top local favorite for authentic Mexican food. They have been featured in several publications and continue to win awards for their delectable recipes. Although Maggie’s Kitchen has a much more informal dining experience than Luna, you will quickly realize it does not keep people away. I have never seen or heard anything negative about this restaurant and customers tend to say they feel like family when they eat at Maggie’s. While literally everything is good here, some notable options on their menu include their barbacoa, tostadas, and burritos.
