Sava’s locally sourced food is sure to impress no matter what you order. It started as a small diner by a young woman named Sava Lelcaj. Sava’s has now grown into a large restaurant. Several of their dishes are Mediterranean or Spanish inspired, with an American twist. Their sweet potato fries and Mediterranean eggs are both a must try. If you’re in the area on a Sunday morning, Sava’s offers a Sunday brunch buffet from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Zingerman’s Deli

You can’t visit Ann Arbor without stopping by Zingermann’s. The deli is known nationally for their delicious baked goods and deli products. Each of their delicious hand-crafted sandwiches is made to order with their own deli meats and cheeses. Even if you’ve already eaten enough food for the day, you have to stop by the deli counter or Zingerman’s Coffee Co. for a dessert or something to take home.

All the fritas can be made vegetarian or you can follow their menu guide if you have food allergies. Next, pick your batido. These are fruit milkshakes that can also be made with alcohol. If you’re eating with a group, you can also get a fishbowl of sangria, margaritas, or mojitos that serves six.

Jolly Pumpkin

You may have heard of this brewery and cafe if you’ve been to their locations in Traverse City or the Detroit area. They also have plans to open Grand Rapids and Chicago locations. The brewery makes artisan ales that have won awards from Men’s Journal and at the Great American Beer Festival. Even Barack Obama visited the Detroit location before heading to the auto show. While Jolly Pumpkin has great beer, they’re also known for their fantastic pizzas.

The Lunch Room

The Lunch Room is a locally sourced, vegan-friendly diner that serves food like a cafeteria. They have three locations in Ann Arbor: The diner, Detroit Street Filling Station, and the bakery & cafe.
