Home Improvement stared Michigander Tim Allen, so it isn’t surprising that this show was based in a Detroit suburb. Home Improvement follows Tim and his family which included three boys as they navigate through their adolescent years. It also focuses on Tim’s tv show Tool Time. The show was ranked in the top 10 for viewers for all eight seasons, reaching as many as 35.2 million during the third season.
Noodle and Doodle

Noodle and Doodle, a live-action children’s show was partly filmed at Hope College in Holland, Michigan, and around West Michigan. Parts of the show were also filmed in Pennsylvania. The show follows Sean as he drives his double-decker bus around to visit families in Michigan and Pennsylvania. When visiting these families, he gets ideas for recipes and arts and crafts. Doodle creates a blueprint based on the idea a family provides so Sean and the audience can make the food or craft.
Sister, Sister

Sister, Sister is based in Detroit and the suburbs. It started twins Tamera and Tia Mowry who reunite as teenagers after being separated at birth. The adoptive parents decide to move in together after Lisa, the adoptive mother, was about to take Tia to St. Louis for a job, which would separate the girls again. The show watches the girls navigate the later years of high school and the first year of college.

The characters in Weeds lived in a lot of different places during its eight-season run. In this show, a widowed mother starts selling marijuana to help support her family. As the show goes on, the Botwin family gets deeper and deeper involved with illegal activities and moves around often. For part of season six, the Botwin family lives in Dearborn, Michigan. Weeds is one of the shows where the Michigan location is short-lived compared to other TV shows on our list.

American Horror Story: Cult, the seventh season in the FX horror TV show, is based in an imaginary suburb called Brookfield Heights, Michigan. AHS: Cult largely focuses on a cult in the fictional suburb. The cult is frightening and threatening suburb residents after Donald Trump won the presidential election in 2016.
Charmed

Charmed, the reboot, takes place in fictional Hilltowne, Michigan. The college town is where two daughters and their mother are living and their half-sister moves shortly into the series. When the three sisters come together, their magical powers come to life. The show follows the girls as they go through big changes from being “normal” to good witches.
The Loud House

The Loud House is an animated series on Nickelodeon that takes place in Royal Woods, which is said to be in southeastern Michigan. The fictional town is based on the show creator, Chris Savino’s hometown of Royal Oak. It is also inspired by his upbringing as a middle child in a family of 11. The show is known for being comic strip like and follows the large family around while focusing on Lincoln Loud, the middle child in the family. The Loud House has gained a lot of positive attention for being inclusive and diverse with an interracial gay married couple.
