The State of Michigan is home to the widest range of bridges in the United States. From historic covered bridges to several of the longest suspension bridges in the world, it’s not difficult to find a Michigan bridge near your location that’s worth visiting.

Fallasburg Bridge

This 100 foot bridge located just outside of Lowell, Michigan – about 30 minutes East of Grand Rapids – is a brown truss covered bridge that’s located on the Flat River. Built in 1871, this historic bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is open to vehicle traffic.

Ambassador Bridge

Among one of the busiest bridges in North America, the Ambassador bridge is an iconic part of Detroit’s history and has been an essential link between the United States and Canada for over nine decades. At the time of opening in 1929, the Ambassador Bridge was the longest suspension bridge in the world. To this day, it remains the largest international suspension bridge in the world.

W.K. Kellogg Forest Bridge

Located in August, Michigan, a few miles east of Kalamazoo, the bridge at the entrance of the W.K. Kellogg Forest has informational posters that line the interior of the bridge as well as windows on each side so that you can see the stream below. The W.K. Kellogg Forest has miles of trails that are open to the public.

Langley Covered Bridge

Located Northeast of Three Rivers, Michigan, the Langley Covered Bridge is the longest covered bridge in Michigan. The bridge was constructed in 1887 to help facilitate traffic over the St. Joseph River. The bridge is a popular destination for photographers as well as those looking to fish from inside the bridge itself.

Mackinac Bridge

Not only one of the most well-known bridges in Michigan, The Mackinac Bridge is one of the most well-known and historic bridges in the United States. Connecting Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas since 1957, the Mackinac Bridge is 26,372 feet long (nearly 5 miles) and is currently the world’s 5th longest suspension bridge.

Ada Covered Bridge

The Ada Covered bridge is a brown truss-covered bridge built in 1867. Situated above the Thornapple River near the confluence of the Thornapple and Grand River, the bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The bridge is a short drive from Grand Rapids.

Pierce Stocking Covered Bridge

Located along the Pierce Stocking scenic drive in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, the bridge was originally built in the 1960s and reconstructed in 1986. It’s easy to hike, walk or drive up to the bridge.

Blue Water Bridge

The Blue Water Bridge is another international bridge that connects Port Huron to Sarnia Ontario. The Blue Water Bridge has a unique construction in that it is a twin span bridge, as it was necessary to expand the capacity of the bridge in the 1990s.

Joshua’s Crossing Covered Bridge

Located in Lake Ann, west of Traverse City near Lake Ann State Forest Campground, Joshua’s Crossing covered bridge was built in 1995 to gain access to the Herendeen Lake Resort property. Also known as Loon Song covered bridge, the bridge has a red exterior and during the winter a wreath is placed over the bridge, making it a fantastic location for photos on a snowy winter day.
