Best Food on Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island is one busy place during the warm Michigan months! The Island is full of tourists shopping, hiking, biking, and more. With so many activities on the island, it’s easy to work up an appetite! Here are some of the best places to grab food while visiting the Island.

Breakfast

JL Beanery

If you’re in need of a jolt of caffeine in the morning, JL Beanery is a perfect stop. Between flavored coffees, espresso, and tea, you’ll find something for everyone in the morning. Don’t forget to try one of their delicious pastries too.

The Pancake House

The Pancake House has the best breakfast on the Island and it is available all day long! The Pancake House is located downtown, right near the ferry ports. Lunch is also available at The Pancake House later in the day along with milkshakes and fudge (not that you can’t have those for breakfast)!

Lunch

Island Slice Pizzeria

Who can say no to pizza? Not many. The is actually the only pizzeria on the Island so it’s often busy, but the daily freshly dough is worth it. Don’t forget to also try their baked subs and pasta. The Pizzeria offers take-out and delivery via bicycle if you’re not interested in eating there.

The Doghouse

The Doghouse is best known for its delicious hot dogs and chili dogs. Located across from Windermere Point, The Doghouse also has Polish sausage and brats. You can also satisfy a sweet tooth here with a Black Cow or some soft-serve ice cream.

Dinner

1852 Grill Room

The 1852 Grill Room was recently renovated and is a great casual fine dining option. The Grill Room is located in the Island House Hotel, but has water views making it a great location to kick back and relax while you enjoy delicious steaks, wine, and so much more.

Goodfellow’s

Goodfellow’s has three dining options; the Italian Chop House, Wings and Things, and the Wine Cellar. The Italian Chop House is casual, serving authentic Italian food. Wings and Things is best known for its wings, but also has pizza, burgers, and more. Lastly, the Wine Cellar has wine tasting and flights; for lunch they have pizza, while dinner is on the fancier side.

Nightlife

Horn’s Gaslight Bar & Restaurant

Horn’s has a very extensive menu, which makes it easy to satisfy the family. It also has great bar food for when you’re out late at night with adults enjoying a few drinks.

Pink Pony

The Pink Pony is a great restaurant for any time of day really, but it’s best known for its live entertainment at night. In addition to great food — the fish tacos are to die for — Pink Pony has waterfront views!

Dessert

There are too many delicious fudge shops on the Island to list! You can’t go wrong when you stop in any of them!
