As we all know, Michigan is home to an abundance of breweries no matter what part of the state you happen to be in. Everywhere you look, there is probably a brewery around the corner or within a short drive. The southwest region of Michigan is full of so many great beach towns and beautiful sights. It is easy to plan a weekend trip to this region and incorporate a few breweries along with many other sightseeing activities. I recently visited the southwest region of Michigan with a friend to explore the many breweries there and I was definitely surprised at what we found. These are some of my favorite breweries that we visited in the region.
Beer Church Brewing Co.

My absolute favorite brewery that I have visited is Beer Church Brewing Co! This is an old church that has been restored into a fully functioning brewery, hence the name. You can choose to sit inside on an actual church pew, or you can venture outside to enjoy a beer under an umbrella table. The beers here are nothing short of incredible and there are always many different kinds being brewed. My personal summer favorite was a mango hard seltzer! If you are looking to grab a bite to eat, they feature a traditional Italian style menu with wood-fired pizzas and more. This place is a must to check out if you are ever in the area!
Greenbush Brewing

If you are a big fan of IPA style beers, Greenbush Brewing is the place to be! You can find unique IPAs here along with a few other selections as well. You can choose to sit inside or enjoy their breezy outdoor patio for enjoying your beer of choice. The taproom is in Sawyer which is right outside of New Buffalo. The inside is nicely decorated with a huge wall of mugs displayed for the beer club members.
Ghost Isle Brewery

Ghost Isle Brewery has an amazing outdoor patio that overlooks the water for the perfect summer drinking spot. However, the inside is nothing short of amazing as well. It is very spacious and open with great views of the bar area and outdoors. Enjoy their constant rotation of 7 different craft beers that are brewed in house or try out one of the many hand-crafted cocktails. They also have a full kitchen that serves a variety of different appetizers and full meals to fill you up.
Silver Harbor Brewing Company

This brewery is in St. Joseph offering a few unique choices for craft beer. A fan favorite is the smoke beer which involves injecting hickory smoke into a glass chamber and covering the beer. This allows the smoke to infuse into the beer offering a more powerful and robust taste. Along with this, they offer many other rotating varieties of IPAs, Sours, Stouts, and more. This place is for everyone even the non-craft beer lovers as they offer a selection of spirits and wines as well. If you’re hungry, be sure to grab a bite to eat with one of their small plates!
