A Michigan Road Trip You Must Take This Summer

As summer is finally upon us, it’s time for you to start planning a Michigan road trip. Lucky for you I have highlighted some of the must-see places in our incredible state.

1. Grand Haven

Grand Haven is home to one of the most beautiful beaches in Michigan, if not the most beautiful in the U.S. Grand Haven is a must-see for any Michigan road trip. This West Michigan city is known for having the world’s largest musical water fountain, amazing lighthouses, a historic downtown, and numerous event going on during the summer.

2. Silver Lake Sand Dunes

The Silver Lake Sand Dunes have over 2000 acres of sand dunes and miles of bike trails. You can also bring your own off-road vehicle or rent one to climb the steep dunes. And if you’re looking for nice dining and shopping you are not far from Pentwater, which has an assortment of places to visit.

3. Sleeping Bear Dunes

The Sleeping Bear Dunes are on our Michigan road trip because they cover a 35-mile stretch of Lake Michigan shoreline and are a staggering 400 feet high. I can’t forget to mention that they were also named the “Most Beautiful Place in America” according to ABC News Good Morning America.

4. Traverse City

Traverse City is a must see if you’re road tripping through Michigan. The city has 16 championship golf courses that are different than any other. They are also known for their craft brews, wine tasting, amazing food, and beautiful fishing spots.

5. Petoskey

Petoskey has one of Michigan’s most amazing state parks, along with beautiful beaches, and a great historic district. The Petoskey area has an endless amount of outdoor activities too, including biking, hiking, and fishing.

Mackinaw City has many historic landmarks, lighthouses, dining, and boat tours. It is also just a short ferry ride to Mackinac Island, and Headlands International Dark Sky Park, which offers its visitors a chance to learn about the starry night sky.

7. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

The Pictured Rocks in Munising is a necessary stop to complete any Michigan road trip. It is paradise for any outdoor enthusiast with its sandstone cliffs, waterfalls, beaches, dunes, forests, and wildlife. Just about any outdoor activity imaginable is possible at this beautiful lakeshore.

8. Cadillac

Cadillac is a diverse city with 500,000 acres of state and national forest but also having an upbeat downtown with several festivals throughout the year. There are all kinds of fun activities for all ages in Cadillac and a must-see for Michigan road trippers.

9. Manistee National Forest

The Manistee National Forest is nearly 1 million acres of public land. There are a plethora of outdoor activities in this beautiful park, and I strongly encourage you to add it to your Michigan road trip itinerary.
