St. Patrick’s Day Event Roundup

The luck of the Irish! St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner. Here are the places to be in Michigan for your chance at finding a pot of gold.

Grand Ledge St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Celebration

Date: Friday, March 11th and Saturday, March 12th

Grand Ledge throws a bash for St. Patrick’s Day that kicks off Friday night. On Friday, live Irish entertainment, including Irish Dancers, bag pipe performances and more, takes place at the local Opera House starting at 6 pm. The following day is the city’s parade at 2pm followed once again by performances at the Opera House. Saturday is also the Irish Stew cook-off which takes place from 11am to 4pm.

58th Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade

Date: Sunday, March 13th  

Location: Detroit

The Detroit St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place on March 13, 2016 at noon. This parade is sponsored by the United Irish Societies; which consists of Irish Organizations across the Detroit Metro area. The parade primarily takes place along Michigan Avenue near Old Tiger Stadium.

Irish on Ionia

Date: Saturday, March 19th  

Location: Grand Rapids

Irish on Ionia is a street party located on Ionia St. in downtown Grand Rapids. The party stretches from Oaks to Fulton & Weston to Commerce. It is an all-day event from 7am to 10pm so be sure to pace yourselves! The event will have two stages going, and will feature bag pipers throughout the day. The event has a variety of ticket options including general admission, and VIP tickets to choose from.

62nd Bay City St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Date: Sunday, March 20th

Location: Bay City

The Bay City Parade takes place the Sunday after St. Patrick’s Day at 2pm. The parade starts at Center and Park Avenues and travels to Downtown Bay City. Weeks prior to the parade, there is an Annual Queen and Princess Pageant, and the winners are featured in the parade. The Queen and Princess are competing for scholarship money.
